I love springtime!
It’s great when the dark winter days begin to lengthen and now at the end of February the days are drawing out. The Courts is a National Trust property, fairly close to my home, and has just reopened after the winter break. It was a gloomy Sunday on February 25th but the morning gave a window of opportunity to visit before incoming bad weather arrived.
The Courts, Holt, Wiltshire
This year the National Trust has moved the reception into the house which was previously tenanted and out of bounds. It allows visitors to see a couple of former rooms before entering the gardens.
I made a video back in the spring of 2022 which you can watch here.
This visit is much earlier in the year than previous visits so there is not much in the way of flowers yet. Please though, do enjoy the photos I have included in this post.
The gardens are worth visiting throughout the year as there is such a wonderful variety of plants which flower throughout the year. The gardens also have many trees which change the appearance of the gardens as each month goes by.
At the end of winter, we see the first of the bulbs producing their flowers and buds appearing on some trees. It won’t be long before the green starts to come back.
Many of us like the sound of running water and this is provided by the dream running through the gardens, which once powered a mill that stood on this site.
