I love the history of industrialisation, but I also appreciate and love to see old crafts still being continued.
Whenever I can, I visit places where demonstrations of such skills can be seen. Sometimes, these are in museums, and whilst that is interesting, it’s good to see them in commercial use.
To that end, this year, I am planning to visit and write about those who still make a living from practising old skills. These may be in danger of dying out, so it would be good to see them now and, hopefully, with additional publicity, play a small role in keeping them alive.
It may be that you know of a skilled person or a business where they can be found whom I can contact to visit. They would need to be in the UK, and I would welcome your suggestions by either leaving a comment or sending me an email by clicking this link it will open your inbox with the email address inserted.
I look forward to writing about the people I meet and the places I visit.
