Note: The name Roland’s Travels returns!
It’s been awhile since I produced a Rologram - my replacement for Instagram.
On a lovely sunny Saturday morning, March 29th, I ventured into Chesterfield town centre and would like to share these photos with you. Click on the images for a larger view.
Chesterfield has approximately forty-five black and white buildings. They are not Tudor! Many of the them were built during the 1920s and 30s and many visitors would be forgiven for thinking they are much older.

The town hall is a very grand affair and was constructed in 1938. I think all town halls should look like this!

What a JD Wetherspoon’s this is! The Portland Hotel, built to serve the travellers on the railway is now part of the Wetherspoon empire. It’s named after the Duke of Portland whose land the Derbyshire and East Coast railway passed through.
Chesterfield is well known for its market and work is being done to improve the outdoor area and the Market Hall.

Chesterfield is probably better known for the ‘crooked spire’ of St Mary and All Saints Church. I have written about this before and you can read the story here.
To finish off here a few more photos. Enjoy!

We went there when visiting my great aunt some years ago. Lovely town!
I used to pass through Chesterfield on the train, but have never been to actually visit. It has some wonderful buildings.
