Our life is made up of events and memories. When we travel we like to see things and have new experiences. Since the advent of photography, we have been able to capture images and more recently video. This has enabled us to be able to look back and relive moments that we might otherwise have forgotten. It also allows us to share with others these memories.
In times past, photography was expensive and we were limited to taking few pictures due to cost. Nowadays, with digital cameras being affordable and more so since we now have smartphones with excellent cameras, we can soon build a portfolio of thousands of photos and videos.
Keeping Your Memories Safe
Whilst losing physical photographs or negatives is entirely possible, one challenge we have in the digital world is keeping our photos and videos safe. Just one click and we could lose them! Storing photos entirely on a device is risky. If the device malfunctions, is lost or stolen, then we lose everything.
The cloud is a good way to keep our data safe, as long as we use secure passwords and safety systems. Both Apple and Google offer great storage solutions along with companies such as Dropbox. These also allow us to share photos we choose with our family and friends. If you lose your phone, you will be safe in the knowledge that your precious images are ready for you to pick up on any device, anywhere.
How do you store your images?
Now here’s a question for you. I personally use Apple iCloud with the occasional use of Dropbox and Google when working with others that use these.
Please share in the comments your experience of storing photos and if you have had any disasters.
