Reminds me of Dick Turpin, who was a gangster doing home invasions before he took to armed robbery on the roads!

Thanks for reminding me of Bakewell. I never liked the tarts, but while driving through Derbyshire, I had to pop in for a proper pudding, and it was great

A very interesting read on a village very close to Chesterfield.

Never knew the village had so much history and danger, was a very interesting place to live back in the 13th Century, Derbyshire Robin Hoods.

Very interesting as usual, look forward to the next instalment of your travels 👍🏻

Thank you, Craig. It’s amazing how many historical events are associated with a place that are well documented from long ago.

Another interesting tale. Bakewelll is a lovely place - when I was a photographer, we stayed there. I love the story about the gang.

It’s amazing how many stories there are that often go unnoticed. I was raised in Derbyshire and visited Bakewell many times. My school used to teach local history but I never came across this story until I was about to write about Bakewell.
