The Art of Public Speaking

08_audience2Does the thought of standing before an audience scare you?

It certainly used to scare me! Undoubtedly I would describe myself as inherently shy. However with patient help and training I have been able to stand before audiences and talk to them on a variety of subjects. The shyness that I seemed to be stuck with has now almost disappeared and public speaking has been the major reason why I have been able to conquer it and learn how to control nerves.

Public speaking is an art. Even those that are naturally able to stand before an audience and talk do well to learn skills that will improve their speaking performance. There are ways to enhance any talk by using many different techniques that the finest of speakers have learned and practiced. Accomplished speakers will tell you that they are always learning and sometimes slip into ‘bad habits’ that need correcting.

A good speech / presentation starts with the hard work before you deliver it. The way you compose it is very important as a badly composed talk will not sound great even given the best of speakers.

Once the talk is composed it needs to be practiced and adjusted until it sounds just right. You will need to use  techniques that will make your speech interesting to listen to and will also help your audience to remember the key points. You may be giving a talk that you want your audience to respond to and take action in some way. Then it is vital that you learn how to motivate your audience. These are all skills that can be learned and developed with the right training.

You will find that by attending one of my training courses you will learn what these techniques are and how to apply them in your presentations to an audience. You will also find that you will be able to control any nerves and really begin to find the benefits of standing before an audience and speaking well a great advantage in your social life, work or business.
