Why do you need to be a good public speaker?
Many people dread the very thought of speaking before an audience. It is a frightening prospect for them and they often say that they would rather climb a mountain or face some other perilous task than speak in public.
The reality is that fear can be overcome and there are many benefits to be able to overcome such fear. For others that can stand before an audience they need to be taught ways to become effective public speakers and use their confidence to their advantage.
Why should you learn to speak in public?
From the perspective of someone in business public speaking can raise your profile in the eyes of others. A confident speaker will gain value and be viewed upon as an expert in their field. You may be called on to be interviewed by the media thus further heightening your public profile. We have all seen news items where an ‘expert’ on the subject is interviewed. Public speaking can give you the confidence and skills to present yourself in that way and gain valuable publicity for your business.
To be able to speak at seminars and networking events is also a fine way to promote yourself and of course your business. After a short while people will be asking you to speak at their events and then you will really start to reap the rewards of your speaking ability.
Training and Practice
With most things in life it takes effort and practice to become good and proficient. Public speaking is no different. You will need training and practice. To that you will then add experience and you will grow in your public speaking ability.
