Social Media has opened doors to many people. It has crossed all social boundaries and allows people to communicate in a way not possible before. You can be hundreds or thousands of miles away from people that you would never normally be able to meet and find out about them in quite a personal way. There are even people in your own neighbourhood that you have never seen or spoken to and social media can bring you and your community together.

There are people who have set up Tweet Ups where Twitter followers are invited to a particular venue to meet in person and get to know each other better. Business people are using Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin to build business relationships. Family and friends can stay in touch and see the latest family photos and videos on Facebook.

Blogs have become an ever more important part of news events being related from ordinary people and letting the world know what is happening in places where journalists are often coerced  into telling lies and tall stories. News can also be instantly made available with Twitter and photos and videos attached for instant access.

The Internet and the development of Social Media has certainly improved millions of people’s lives.
