Questions arising

One of the things that I enjoy is giving talks at the breakfast meeting of 4Networking. Yesterday I delivered a talk at Frome and discussed the subject of creating a talk and the basics required to make it successful. I therefore covered the need for a theme and sticking to it. I then went onto talk about the introduction, main body and conclusion.

After the 10 minute presentation members are allowed to ask questions and there are always some very good questions. One question that was asked was about the use of props particularly Powerpoint. It is important that when props are used that they do not detract from what the speaker is saying but add value. Far too often with powerpoint the slides become the notes for the speaker and are simply read line by line. If a slide is required use it and then lose it! Projectors can be switched off or a standard non detracting slide (such as your talk’s title) can be shown until another one is going to be used. Props also need to be practiced with before the talk is given and a final check to make sure that they work. It is very embarrassing to start to say how wonderful something is and then nothing happens!

The Big Breakfast – 4Networking Swindon

This morning (Monday June 14th.)  I attended the 4Networking Big Breakfast in Swindon. It was a great opportunity to meet many other business people and develop good contacts.

4Networking is certainly in my opinion the best national business network to join.

Here a few minutes of video that I shot today.
